Opinion Writing

Today we discussed what opinion writing should have. Students were given the sentence opinion writing should have… And then they finished the sentence in as many ways. Here are our results.

Math May 25 – Equations, Algebra Blocks, and the Distributive Property

Today we are talking about (gr. 7) creating equations from word problems and then using algebra tiles/blocks to solve them, and (gr. 8) using the distributive property when solving equations.

Grade 7’s will be completing 1.7 all #s and 1.8 #s 1-8

The Lost Boys of Sudan

Paperback The Lost Boys of Sudan: An American Story of the Refugee Experience BookToday we are following up our novel study on A Long Walk to Water by watching the documentary The Lost Boys of Sudan.  In this movie we follow a group of young men from Southern Sudan that have survived similar lives as Salva from our book.  They are now in America and trying to start new lives.  We will look for their challenges and how they meet them.

Unpacking Fables and Allegories

Today we are learning about Fables and Allegories.  Then we are talking about Satire.  We will have in-class lessons related to both of these with the materials shown below.  Students that are absent can access recordings of the lessons on Teams.
