Math April 12 – gr.7 Angle Bisectors Gr.8 Solving Problems With Fractions
This week the grade 7’s are completing their bisectors work with assignment 8.4 while the grade 8’s continuing their work with fractions in the form of Word Problems
Gr. 7 Assignment: Grade 7’s are to complete assignment 8.4 (Questions 2-8). Be sure to watch the video below closely to learn how to do all the examples from this assignment. Also, if you wish to do some of the geometry in a digital way, be sure to watch the second video on how to do this using the online tool at https://www.geogebra.org/geometry

I would like to take a moment here to nominate myself for the “best thumbnails that preview youtube videos” award. I think youtube TRIES to take the most ridiculous frames for the preview.
Grade 8 Assignment: Grade 8’s are continuing their work on fractions by by addressing them with word problems. This makes it VERY IMPORTANT that students utilize, estimation, question review, and to ask themselves “is my answer plausible?” prior to moving on to the next question. Gr. 8’s are to complete #’s 3-14.

Math – March 20 – Graphs, mean, mode, and more
This week we are looking at graphing data and analyzing it using mode, mean, median, and range. Click the links below for the assignments.
Grade 7 are doing assignment 7.1 and 7.2. For 7.1 they are to do #’s 2-7 and for 7.2 #’s 1-3 and 5-7.
19.03.11 grade 7 – mean mode median range – 7.1 7.2-1ujbv0v
Grade 8 are doing assignment 7.1 and are to do #’s 3-12.

March 15 – Probability
This week we are reviewing our probability. The Gr.7’s and Gr.8’s have a common assignment this week. Complete #’s 1-7.
This week we are doing assignment 7.6 and where we are determining the probability of events. We will do all of this in person in class, however, if you still need some extra help then check out the lesson on this from last year. Students are assigned all numbers in this assignment.

Mythbusters – Archimedes Death Ray – Optics – Science
Today we are watching some Mythbusters and looking specifically at how Archimedes attempted to make a death ray using soldier’s shields as reflective surfaces. Do you think it is possible to use the reflected sun as a weapon? Check out the worksheet from class and the episode below. Note: The video watched in class was regular speed and streamed from discovery education (which requires further passwords). However, the video below also has the segments covered in this lesson (but you have to skip through a bit).
