    • Note: Mr. Ewert is away today, so if you need technical help with your stencils, move on to other work (don’t forget that Personal Portfolios are due on Monday) and Mr. Ewert can help you with your stencil work on Monday.

Gr. 11-12 – RR #6 and Stencil Cut (studio time)

Before you sit down:

  • Get a piece of scrap paper and label it “Response/Reflection #6 – Human Forms”, then your name, and today’s date (March 11th)
  • Get what you need for planning your stencil cut project
  • shape one of the human forms at your table group for sketching (make a unique pose that can stand or sit on their own
    • each table only needs one or two forms

Today:

  • Complete your Response/Reflection #6 and then move on to Stencil Cut studio time

Response/Reflection #6 explained:

  • Make a unique human pose, spend 2-3 min sketching the pose as best you can.
  • No need to draw the individual pieces of the model, just focus on getting the basic human form down.
  • Complete 5 poses of the figure (should take about 15 min.)

Stencil Cuts – The Assignment:

Tues., March 10 – Gr 11-12 – India Ink Portrait (Studio Time) – Gr 7-8 – Personal Portfolio (Week 5)

Before you sit down:

  • Get what you need for your India Ink Portrait
  • Personal Portfolios: if you have not met one-one one with Mr. Ewert regrading your upcoming Portfolio submission, please have your journal and master list filled out and your artwork collected – be ready to conference briefly regarding your work and upcoming submission on Friday, March 13th

Today:

  • We will briefly review the Personal Portfolio assignment expectations (due no later than Fri., Mar. 13 with min. 5 hours of studio time represented)
  • We have studio time for India Ink Portrait
  • When you are finished you can move on to your Stencil Cut work, or, you may take time to work on Personal Portfolio

  • Get out your copy of Personal Portfolio Explained. If you don’t have a copy, open this link and study the details of the assignment (you need to know this stuff)
    • Facts of note for Friday the 13th:
      • You are to have a min. of 5 hours for Semester Two
      • You are to combine with your 4 hours of work from Semester One
      • We are doing our presentations next week
  • Get a Copy of the Personal Portfolio Presentation assignment (paper copies on counter)
  • Get what you need for Week 5 of Personal Portfolio studio time

We are going to complete our Human Face Part IV by watching the video without pausing. Then we are going to learn how to use our pen knives correctly in preparation for our stencil cut pencil cases.

  • Below is a video of someone doing a similar project. Note how he sticks the mylar to the fabric, dabs the paint (not too much paint), then peels off the mylar for a nice finish.
