  • On your paper, you are to do some under-colouring of all the primary and secondar
  • y colours. When undercolouring, you are to take the complimentary colour (opposite side of colour wheel) as the bottom colour.
    • When you have completed all 6 colours, provide a paragraph written response to the following question:
      • “How does starting with a complement change the ‘temperature’ of the piece?”

      • Hint: try using different techniques for applying your pastels to see the effect.

Pastels Collection (the Assignment) – Grade 7-8

This assignment consists of 2 parts:

  • Part 1: technical foundations – whole class (May 5th)
  • Part 2: The “Common Piece” (fruit/object) – Mastering colour theory with fruit drawings (May 6th)

Yesterday we did Part 1 and today we will do Part 2 (see below).

Part 2: The “Common Piece” (Fruit/Object)

These tutorials focus on building volume and realistic color depth using a single subject, which is perfect for a guided class activity.

When you are finished your Fruit Drawings, you are free to hand in your Pastel Projects and move on to your Personal Portfolios and Presentations. Tomorrow we will review the presentation expectations and you will get a clear idea of how to prepare.
