We are working on self- portraits using india ink. You are going to take a little photo shoot of yourself, choose a photo, filter it, and then challenge yourself to make an india ink layered self portrait using values.
Levels of this assignment you might consider:
Entry Level: print out your picture in a paint-by-number lines type project, get Mr. Ewert to transfer it to a piece of water-colour paper, and then use as a guide for your india ink.
acceptable level
focuses only on using different levels of value for your portrait
Challenge Level: print out a copy of your stylized picture, then trace parts of it to your water-colour paper to guide your work.
challenge for you but with help
focuses on levels of value, but also, on some sketching
Master Level: print out a copy of your stylized picture and then use it only as a reference to help you sketch out your portrait and paint with india ink for different levels of value
Hardest challenge and biggest payout
focuses on levels value, sketching, and greatest creativity
Note: for those doing a paint-by-number print. Be sure to put your picture at 65% transparency in word, then print, and then ask Mr. Ewert to copy is with -1 value (so your lines are not printed harshly and take away from your art work).
Ultimately: you need to challenge yourself to the level you feel capable of
