- you SHOULD have some time for a personal zentangle project

- have your Elements of Art worksheets ready to fill out (final video – below)
Today:
We are watching a short video of Henri Matisse and then observing a sample projects. There are more samples for you to see as well (videos below). Then you are going to do your own Henri Matisse style work.

Friday, Dec. 12 – Gr. 7-8 Zentangles – Gr. 9-10 Personal Portfolios

- Find your assignment and read the directions so you know what the assignments are
- there are two, and you need to “submit” one (read the directions)
- Then head to the class website to read further details on this post

- Get what you need for India Ink to complete your Nametag
- You should be able to get into your Famous Person Mural today
This coming week:
- We are looking to finish our Zentangles and have them handed in (did you check the due date on Edsby?)
- We will also start using our India Ink to make some more complicated works that you might find interesting…using brushes and many different techniques
- We will also be putting together our large art folders
- Friday: Christmas Fun Day at ACI – fun stuff all over the school, including a Retro Game room right here in the Art Room!!!

When you sit down:
You can get started on your Zentangle Name Tag. We will also decide on our next project (also zentangle) today so that we can make a larger project together. Mr. Ewert will clue us in to that at the beginning of class.
Gr. 9-10 – Elements of Art – and RR #4 (Form)
Before you sit down:
- Get what you need for India Ink (we are following up the Element of Form)
- NOTE: When you grab your inkwell tray, you must put a piece of tape on it and label with your name [Jayden is on “Paint Palettes (stickers)” duty – make sure all have labelled tape on trays])

Unfortunately, Mr. Ewert is away sick today, but we can still get started…with zentangles. We are going to watch a video that explains what zentangles are (see the samples on the bulletin boards around the classroom), and then we are going to work on our very own zentangle name tags.

Monday, Dec. 8 – Gr. 7-8 Syllabus and Introduction to Art Class – Gr. 9-10 – Elements of Art – for real this time
Gr. 7-8 – Class Syllabus and Zentangle Name Project
Before you sit down:
- one copy of the class syllabus
- one fine black pen
- one thicker black marker
- one piece of scrap paper
- one half piece of art paper (the small-sized, slightly purple looking paper)
- one ruler

Gr. 9-10 – Element of Art
Before you sit down:
- Grab a copy of the Elements of Art Worksheets that go along with the video collection

We will be going through the video together in class today, but if you missed class or need to review, you can do that with the links elow.
Gr. – 7-8 and 9-10 – Picking out Christmas Art and Updating a Card on the Powerpoint – Then Personal Portfolio and Submissions of Work Due
Before you sit down:
- Christmas Concert Powerpoint: Grab your portfolio folder and choose 1 or 2 pieces that you feel are representative of your art. Bring them to Mr. Ewert to take a picture of and add to the Christmas Concert powerpoint.
- Do you already have a picture already in the powerpoint? Go to the powerpoint at this link, check, and if so, add your name to the “artist’s card” in the lower right corner.
- Are you adding our picture that Mr. Ewert took yesterday? Click this link to access your picture and then add it to the powerpoint.
- If you highlight a slide and copy/paste, then you can replace with your new picture
- Don’t forget to add some borders to clean it up (copy/paste from other slides)
- Framed pictures (ACI hall and Xmas Concert): Also, do you have a very special item that you feel is deserving a frame? Ask Mr. Ewert for a frame.
- Also be sure to fill out an artist’s card to put on the frame with it. they are on Mr. Ewert’s table at the front of the room.
