Classrooms of the World

I noticed that almost all of them are happy with their class and I also see that they have many school supplies and have some art in the back, some nice uniforms and they have some good decoration.

When looking at them they look like they are having a good time in school and they look like they bond well with each other, So they look like they have quite a good life.

They do not connect with me that much because they have uniforms for school and they have a smaller classroom. they look like a similar culture to each other but not me, our class is mixed and not focused on one or two cultures.

Classrooms around the world

The classroom is in Abidjan, Ivory coast, I picked this class because I realized that a lot of kids do not have a good place to learn, I also realized that a lot of countries do not have the luxury that we do, I mean compared to some countries we are rich. So I am grateful that I live in Canada, that I can go to school, have clean drinking water, healthy food, and clean clothes. It makes me feel bad for all the people in the world who don’t have all that stuff, who don’t have a home or an education. The class that I picked does not have electricity, plus the windows are not windows they are just small holes in the wall with no glass, their classroom is small, and all cement. They have wooden unfurnished desks.

Here is a picture of the classroom.

  • What sticks out to you (what do you notice within the picture)?

Well the first thing I noticed is that there walls are made up of sand and they don’t have a roof. And everyone has something on their head. I think there outside because they might not have enough money to make a building and I also noticed that they are on a matt and their shoes are not on their feet I don’t know why but I think it is because they don’t want the carpet to get dirty they are probably on a carpet because the sand gets really hot.

  • Considering the things you noticed what do you think those things say about the lives of the people in the picture?

I think that they might not have a lot of money and that is why they don’t have like an actual building. And some of them look like they just have towels on their head which means they probably don’t have hats and when I look at this picture I feel like they don’t have a lot of money

3) How do the people in the picture connect (or not connect) to you?

Live Different @ Dr. George Johnson

live differentGrade 7 had a great time at the Live Different show at Dr. George Johnson Middle School on Tues. Dec. 1. It was a great multi-media experience delivering a strong message about having positive self-image despite our self-doubts.

Students were inundated with insightful personal speakers, intuitive multimedia messages, and inspiring music from the stylings of Everglow; a talented 2-piece band from the East Coast. The overall feedback from students was positive with overwhelming responses to the messages being sent about how to fight negativity and find positive thinking.
