Gr. 7-8 – Value Chart and Personal Portfolio
Before you sit down:
- Get any items you need for getting your India Ink card ready.
- if you are not sure what those items are then you need to check yesterday’s post for the list, or ask those that remember what supplies we were using yesterday.
- Once it looks like the one below, you are good to go and ready for Monday.
Today:
Most are away with volleyball. We are likely all together for the first half of class, so we should all be able to have our card ready like the example below.
To finish today: have your card ready, see pic below.

Friday:
We will be working on Personal Portfolios, so be sure to have your project work planned out so that you are ready on that day.

Options to choose from for Cross-Hatching Final Project (expected amount of time investment – 2 hours)
You will have today, tomorrow (Nov. 14) and likely a little time on Tues. or Wed. next week to get in your two hours for this project. If you are finishing in less, then you will need to pick additional items to try (any of these options are completable with high quality work in less than 2 hours).
- Easier challenge – Drawing of 3d objects – pick out 5 different forms (at least 2 round) from the green bin (the shapes we were sketching the other day) and sketch them using cross-hatching.
- Moderate challenge – Drawing parts of the the human face using online tutorial videos. For this you must draw at lest one of each, suggestion is two of each (or move on to other optional assignments in this list)

- Mastery challenge – Drawing of a human face using a portrait of a person and using only ink with cross-hatching for value shading and illusion of depth
